prince william county, around manassas, this whole line has been shifting to the east the last couple of hours. right in here, you see where it forms a little bit of a bow as it comes through that manassas, that could be pushing a stronger wind across manassas and back to western sections of fairfax county. there is heavy rain in here. it's just about to manassas and it will sweep across. you will get about 15, 20 minutes, heavy rain out of that. the heaviest has cleared. again, you can see how it's sweeping across prince william county. this is western sections of fairfax county for centreville. in centreville that will get heavy rain too as well. right through manassas, good wind, i would suspect 20, 30 miles per hour gusting out of this storm. fit holds together, it will sweep across and eventually get to the district with heavy rain. now, we switched to the rain rate mode to give you an idea of what it was doing. thanks for going back. this little purple dot is about an inch and a half to two inches per hour. not the heaviest rain rates we see but that is fairly heavy rain. it wil

much cooler weekend that could impact your weekend plans. back to you. >>> a manassas driver is charged with dui-related manslaughter after a deadly crash in alexandria. it happened in the middle of the night on i-395, the southbound ramp to route 236. investigators say an audi ran off the road, spun around and slammed into a tree. a back seat passenger was killed. the driver faces charges in the case and police say speed and alcohol were factors. >>> a police cruiser in alexandria, fairfax county investigators are looking for a pair of good samaritans who helped an officer out of that wrecked cruiser. the crash happened monday morning on franconia road. the driver of an infiniti veered into oncoming traffic and crashed head on into the cruiser. that driver was killed instantly and the officer became trapped. police say the two good samaritans then pulled the officer out to safety. they are asking for help locating them to simply say thank you. >>> still to come pepco has filed its request to charge customers for part of that outage from the derecho and 9 wants to know just how

eastbound along 66. no trouble spots to report coming in from manassas headed close in towards the capital beltway. overnight construction in the process of being cheered as a travel out of landover headed in towards college park. >>> an update this morning on the 911 outages in fairfax county and other parts of virginia that occurred during the dick -- derecho storm in june. >> reporter: aaccording to an interview, a verizon executive said the company didn't know about all the 911 outages until it was notified by fairfax county. the report reclosed local governments today details other system failures as well. it was appear extremely unusual storm that took out more polls and generated more trouble tickets for verizon than hurricane irene. the report says it affected more than 100 verizon locations. but backup batteries drained and generators filled to start. that left the area without 911 service for several hours. local lawmakers report happy with what they see as verizon's excuses. >> a very self-justifying report by verizon. it begs the question of what happened on the weekend of june
